How Kidsy tapped into Metal's Deal Intelligence for their Pre-Seed

$3.5M+
Total raised
$1m+ Pre-seed round
Kidsy is a Chicago-based e-commerce marketplace offering discounted baby and kids products sourced from major brands, retailers, and liquidation partners. Shraysi Tandon, Founder and CEO, came to Metal while navigating a fast-moving pre-seed raise after the company crossed $1M+ in annualized revenue.
Problem Statement
At Pre-Seed, Kidsy’s early traction created plenty of investor interest but very little signal on which investors were likely to see the potential in the business. Investors that had done a lot of work in Consumer, or even in eCommerce, were not necessarily attuned to Kidsy’s unique business model and category focus.
For Shraysi, the challenge was identifying which investors had actually backed similar models before and whether their behavior at Pre-Seed matched the kind of partner Kidsy needed. At Pre-seed, when public signals and traction data is limited, not having access to deep intelligence on the most likely investors can quickly result in a prolonged raise process.
Introducing Deal Intelligence
Metal’s proprietary Investor Memory Layer gave Shraysi a high-resolution view of every investor she encountered; surfacing the investments most similar to Kidsy and revealing where an investor had already built pattern recognition around comparable business models.
Rather than relying on an investor’s broad reputation, Metal also exposed how they actually behaved at Pre-Seed: where they were actively deploying, what kinds of companies they backed, and whether their stage-specific investment patterns matched Kidsy’s fundraising context.
This allowed Shraysi to separate investors with demonstrated conviction and relevant deal history from those with only surface-level interest and walk into the highest-priority conversations already knowing why that investor could be a real fit.
Outcome
With Metal helping Shraysi qualify investor interest through deal intelligence and Pre-Seed-specific behavior, Kidsy could focus its time on the conversations most likely to convert into real conviction.
Kidsy went on to close an oversubscribed $1M+ Pre-Seed round.
"Prior to engaging with investors, Metal allows us to build deal intelligence. For a given investor, the platform shows a list of their investments that are most similar to Kidsy, their investment patterns across stages, sectors & geographies, enabling us to identify which investors have previously seen success with similar models. This helps us walk into discussions with the right context and preparation."
