Arman Assadi

Founder/CEO

Steno AI builds AI agents for custom, specialized customer acquisition and conversion workflows, a level of customization Founder/CEO Arman Assadi positions as hard to replicate with off-the-shelf tools, as companies globally move toward customer-centric agents. With significant early growth and customer love, Arman needed to move quickly on Steno AI's Seed round, particularly given how fast the broader AI agent space was evolving underneath him.

The Bottleneck

AI/SaaS at Seed right now moves on a timeline the category itself sets, not one a founder gets to choose. Arman's urgency wasn't generic fundraising pressure — it was that the pace of evolution in AI agents meant a slow round risked closing against a materially different competitive and narrative landscape than the one it started in. To move fast, Steno AI needed calendar density: 15+ investor calls a week with qualified, strong-fit investors, sustained continuously rather than built up gradually. Arman had real raw material for this deep networks across VC-backed founder communities, plus access to thousands of founders through Techstars, where he'd previously raised. But network depth doesn't produce calendar density by itself; the two are related but different problems, and having a large community was not the same as knowing, on any given day, exactly who in it could open a door to a specific investor fast enough to matter.

Inside the Raise

Arman used Relationship Intelligence to convert raw network depth into sustained calendar density, in three steps built for speed rather than one-off research:

Import and Triage

Importing connections via Gmail and LinkedIn, then archiving contacts he didn't know well and pinning ones he did, gave Arman a working map of exactly who he could actually reach for support, a necessary first step specifically because moving at AI/SaaS speed meant he couldn't afford to spend calendar-density-building weeks re-verifying which of his many contacts were real relationships

Relationship-Path Filtering

Using network filtering, Arman identified who within his community had previously raised $2M+ in venture capital, and for each, which investors that founder could broker introductions with. This two-step chain mattered more for an AI/SaaS Seed round moving at speed than it would in a slower-moving category: rather than working through founders one at a time to see who might help, Arman needed his network to fan out into many parallel, simultaneously-workable paths at once.

Per-Investor Intro Pathways

For each investor in his Metal pipeline, Arman could view detailed pathways based on connections who'd either raised from that investor or co-invested alongside them. In a fast-evolving category like AI/SaaS, where the "right" set of target investors could shift as the space moved, having this view update continuously against his live pipeline, rather than as a static map built once, meant Arman's relationship intelligence stayed current with his targets instead of going stale the way a one-time research pass would have.

These are just a few of the capabilities Arman used. The same Relationship Intelligence layer today also runs via Portfolio Founders and via Existing Investors specifically, and pairs with Pipeline Formation, since sustaining 15+ qualified calls a week at AI/SaaS speed depends on tracking pipeline velocity continuously, not just generating leads once.

The Impact

Calendar density isn't valuable in the abstract, it's valuable because in a fast-moving category like AI/SaaS, a round that drags loses ground to the market changing underneath it. Turning the arduous, ad hoc process of landing introductions into something systematic and replicable is what let Arman actually sustain 15+ strong-fit calls a week rather than build toward that pace once and watch it decay, redirecting time that would have gone to mostly unproductive LinkedIn research into introductions themselves, with every request backed by the strongest connection available rather than a cold or weak one.

"At the seed stage, building calendar density is a critical requirement to close the round quickly and seamlessly. We used Metal for the relationship intelligence, enabling us to organize our network and identify who within our network was best positioned to introduce us with specific investors."

Executive Summary

In fast-moving AI/SaaS, round speed is competitive, not just operational.

Arman's urgency came from the pace of the category itself, a slow Seed round risked closing against a different landscape than it opened in, making sustained calendar density a competitive necessity rather than a convenience.

Network depth only converts to calendar density if it moves as fast as the category

Arman already had deep founder and Techstars networks — the gap was a live mechanism to turn that depth into daily paths, not more relationships.

Chaining "who raised money" to "who can introduce me" turns one network into parallel outreach, not sequential.

In a category where round speed is competitive, several intro threads had to move at once, this two-step filter is what made that possible.
